Chapter 7

1. Does objectivity still exist in the media's coverage of politics?  Of the major news outlets (CNN, FoxNews, MSNBC, NPR, NBC, etc.), which are the most objective and which seem to have the most bias?

I think that objectivity does still exist in the media's coverage of politics. I think that they should take out objectivity cause it seems to cause drama. Honestly in my opinion I think that CNN is the most bias, but I think all news media is bias that's why I don't watch the news that much. I just don't want to hear what they have to say.

2. How does talk radio (Rush Limbaugh, Keith Olbermann, etc.) affect your view of politics?  Why?

I honestly couldn't answer how they affect my view on politics because I haven't ever listened to them. I normally listen to music if I'm in my car, and at home I never have the radio on. So I guess they haven't any affect on my view of politics at all.

3. Is media objectivity important?  Why or why not?

I think that media objectivity isn't important. I think that media objectivity is what causes drama and bad news. If the would just report the news and only the news it would be better and easier to listen to/ watch. Plus if they would just report the news it would probably be over quicker. I also tend to believe that news media likes to lean toward all the negative news rather than the positive.

Chapter 6

1) Polls:
Is American news media too dependent upon polls? Is it appropriate for news agencies to create polls and then report on them? Why or why not?

In my opinion I think the media isn't to dependent on polls because they know not alot of people really fill them out. It is not appropriate for news agencies to create polls and then report on them due to the polls really isn't correct if the whole public does not fill it out. 814 adults just isn't enough to make a poll reliable.

2)  How important is political party identification to you (e.g. as a Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, etc.)? Was it more or less important to your parents & grandparents? Does it seem more or less important to your friends? Why or why not?

Political party identification is not really that important to me, mostly because I dont get into politics or their political identification. Political party identification to my parents are important, but my grandparents it isn't. In my opinion I don't think it's important to my friends, because most of them don't get into politics.

3)  Do you feel that you opinion of politics is more influenced by economic issues or by social issues? Why?

In my opinion I think that politics are more influences by economic issues and social issues. I have noticed that most economic issues are brought up in presidental elections or when they do their little shows where they talk on different channels.
